Polyculture

Our Philosophy

A healthy ecosystem produces honest food. We believe honest food has more nutrition and better flavor. Terroir, umamis and opportunity await everyone who participates in the food system. Consuming locally produced honest food, is a great step in that direction.

What is Permaculture?

Imagine a way for a land, its organisms, and its inhabitants to work together to produce sustainable food and resources for the resilience and health of their ecosystem. This is the idea behind permaculture. It is a design science that mimics systems found in nature to produce food and resources in perpetuation. Nature is generous and permaculture provides us with the framework we need to help it generate wealth.

Heritage Breeds

Heritage Breeds

We raise flocks of chickens, ducks, and sheep. Black Copper Maran, Lavender Orpington, Welsummer and Speckled Sussex make up our chicken layers. Our duck flock runs together Indian Runners, Khaki Campbells, and Silver Appleyards. Clun Forests and Finnsheep are our breeds for sheep. Each breed cooperates to fill several niche functions on the farmstead. Foraging, fertilizing, slug control, food, fiber, and live comedy are some of the many benefits. We supplement their forage with 100% soy-free feed and as a thanks for living in this paradise, they provide us with delicious eggs, milk, and sustainable fiber. Read more
